Positive discrimination does not work
Have we not learnt our lesson that positive discrimination does not work all it does is lower standards, I refer to the latest idea put forward by our judiciary that more women and members of the ethnic minorities should be appointed as Judges, they also suggest that court times should be more flexible so that women with children can also become judges. It is interesting to note that since the Police force have taken on this idea of appointing people on positive discrimination values rather then quality the standard of Policing and the confidence in policing has plummeted. The public does not have a lot of faith in our Judges and most believe that standards should rise rather then plummet, so why not appoint the best person for the job. Does it matter that all Judges could be women, ethnic minorities or white males what the country desperately needs is some one who can do the job.
This idea of positive discrimination is supposed to represent the diversity of the community as a whole what a load of rubbish, are we to believe that a Black judge has anything in common with say Black bus driver or a white women judge has anything in common with a white mother on low income who lives on a Council estate NO! With regard to women with children being judges, my own personal opinion is that is if a woman wants children they should become her priority until they reach an age where they can fend for themselves, I expect I will be lambasted for saying this but it is a fact of life that women have children not men. If these professional women brought up their own children instead of having nannies etc that experience of doing all the mundane jobs, such as the school run, clubs, seeing them develop see how there children’s friends develop and most importantly see what other mothers have to cope with, I would suggest would make them far better Judges when their children are able to look after themselves. They would see that the Law is to protect the people and the people make laws. The Law is not some abstract exercise in semantics’. As for our male judges maybe it is about time they actually bonded with the ordinary person in the street, experience some their problems, see what the effects of crime and their decisions have on the ordinary person. What about spending a couple of months every few years going on patrol with the police or just going to the local where ordinary people are not just pubs where Hooray Henries are. A novel idea would be for a Judge to help the jury to find out the truth rather then them select a winner of two team one called the prosecution and one the defence.
I expect I am being too radical, as the Professional Elite who run this so called democratic country would not want to mix with us ordinary cretins.
