POLICE & POSITIVE DISCRIMINATION

Dear Editor

Press reports from the Kent Police state that they wish to “Win the support of the County’s minorities”

I suggest they “Win the support of the majority”

When will these so-called Police experts realize that the Job of the police is to uphold the Law, prevent crime and arrest criminals to the best of their ability. This means employing the best people for the job and appointing the best person for a task within the force without fear or prejudice. It comes as no surprise that the Police force has become so ineffective since Tony Blair’s government has come into power because they have gone down the path of positive discrimination, i.e. rather then employ the best they have given preferential treatment to women, ethnic minorities and homosexuals. The majority of us want the best police force; the public doesn’t care what sex, race or sexual connotation they are. It seems the Police Force is fearful of the government and minority pressure groups and they are prejudice against white males. This policy has led to complete loss of confidence in our police force and a belief that the Police discriminate against white male police officers.

The Public has the right to demand a decent, efficient Police Force one that is based on merit not discrimination. The idea that the Police Force should be representative of the community i.e. if there is 10% ethnic Chinese there should be 10% in the Police is rubbish. How far do you with this Positive discrimination? See how many Catholics, Jews, left-handed people, people with glasses etc?

To the Chief Constable stop wasting our money on focus groups and start catching criminals rather then trying to find crimes that do not exist. Is it not time you made our streets safe to walk?

Yours Faithfully
