Judo Grading Syllabus For Seniors
IBF Examiners have the authorization to grade to 1st Kyu Brown Belt. All Dan grades are examined by Martin Clarke 8th Dan or his chosen representative.
1st Dan are expected to prove their competence in Contest, Be a qualified Judo Referee. They will be expected to demonstrate the Nage No Kata, any technique from the Gokyo, any of the 10 basic Katame -Waza, 10 Shime-Waza and 10 Kenzetsu-Waza. It is also expected for them to demonstrate several Kaeshi Waza & Renraku-Waza in Ne-Waza & Nage-Waza.
Non-Combative Dan Grade will not be expected to compete but must give an exhibition of Randori and perform the above to a higher standard. A non-combative grade is for those who are incapable of doing contest.
Kata plays a very important part of the IBF Dan Grade syllabus.
Honorary Grades are given for long time or distinguished service.
Kyu grades are from 6th Kyu to 1st Kyu.
Yellow, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Brown.
Instructors and Examiners work on their own syllabus which will best achieve the ultimate goal of 1st Dan
