GAIL GIBSON 1st DAN
With deep regret I had the unfortunate task of telling my students at Closeburn Judo Club that Gail had passed away on Friday afternoon 23rd Jan. She had lost her battle with the enemy within, “cancer”.
Gail Gibson was an important part of Closeburn Judo Club and played a big part in the development of the club in the last 10 years and was very popular with both young and old players. If asked for help with organisation of tournaments, gradings or courses Gail would be there, she was the very first senior female that I graded to Black Belt and for most of you who have trained or graded under me you will appreciate how hard that would have been for her. I was very proud to have Gail as one of my senior instructors, she was very confident and articulate in the way she coached students, a few months ago Gail also played a part in setting up the new Glencairn Judo Club in Moniaive.
Over the years I have witnessed many people loosing the battle against cancer and hopefully some day there will be a cure for this dreadful disease. Gail will be sorely missed but always remembered.
