EU Constitution offer.
Gordon Henderson, who is the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Sittingbourne & Sheppey, has written to local MP, Derek Wyatt, and offered to help him instigate a public debate on the proposed EU Constitution.
Mr Henderson said:
‘I wrote to Mr Wyatt welcoming his conversion to the Conservative argument that there should be a referendum on any EU Constitution.
‘Mr Wyatt has said that he wants to see the issue thrown open to the public so I have offered to help him achieve this aim by holding a public debate with me once the final draft of the constitution has been released.
‘Such a debate would give me an opportunity to ask Mr Wyatt a number of important questions about Europe.’
Mr Henderson explained that among the questions he would like Mr Wyatt to answer were the following:-
1) Will Mr Wyatt support Conservative calls for a referendum to be held this autumn, rather than after the next General Election, which seems to be Mr Blair’s preference?
2) Does he agree with the principle of an EU constitution?
3) Does he support the principle of the EU having an elected president?
4) Does he support the principle of a European Defence Force?
5) Would he ever vote to abolish the Pound and accept the Euro as our national currency?
6) Does he support the Monarchy, or, would he prefer Britain to be a republic?
..…ends……..
