Earthquake Disaster
The Earthquake and subsequent flooding disaster has I believe left most people stunned and shocked, there is also a feeling of inadequacy in knowing you can do nothing to physicaly help. For those of us who still believe in a God we offer our prayers but what else, the only real thing to do is to send a financial donation. This I have done but with a great deal of reservation why? Simply I do not trust the organizations that I have sent the money to. You continually read reliable sourced story that tell of massive corruption and fraud in the United Nation and European Union, relief organizations taking a massive percentage for wages and admin etc so you have your doubts but you have no option.
What I would rather have done was donate something like a small generator or blankets, as I would be sure that those who needed it would use them. Why has not one of these relief organizations not come up with a network of warehouse where you can deliver goods you no longer want, they can store them and when a disaster occurs you have a ready made supply of relief equipment. Lets face it nobody buys second hand goods any more and most things we discard are still useable but have become old. What we throw away in the West can be used in third world countries.
Yours Faithfully
