Derek Wyatt MP has Free Holiday ? or is it Work?
Your readers might be interested to learn that members of the Parliamentary Sports & Media Select Committee, including our own MP, Derek Wyatt, fly out on the 18th July for a five day trip to the West Coast of America. Their visit is supposedly part of the BBC Charter Review.
I am sure there are many people who would like an answer to the following questions:-
2) What do they feel they can learn from American television that could in any way influence the future of public service broadcasting in this country?
3) In an age of the Internet, satellite TV and world wide conferencing facilities, why do the MP’s need to travel at all? Surely such research, if it really is necessary, could be conducted from London?
4) Why should the British taxpayer have to pay for this sunshine break in California?
Your readers may remember that this particular group of MP’s visited the West Coast of America about the same time last year, supposedly to investigate the British film industry! If they are going to make this an annual event perhaps they should be issued with season tickets!
Yours sincerely
