Canterbury Judo Competition
On the 14 of November 2009 there was a bja judo competition held in Canterbury
Kent with young Liam Jordan being the only lad to take part from Sittingbourne
Judo Society. 9 year old Liam weighed in for his fight at just 22 kgs, because
of his light weight he sometime has a difficulty finding people to fight but he
fought outstandingly and against a lad from Dartford who weighed in at over 27
kgs making him 5 kgs and two years older. This meant that Liam was fighting at a
disadvantage of 5 kgs but for Liam this was just more fun and challenge for he
was used to this type of disadvantage. Liam fought outstandingly, throwing the
boy with a massive pick up throw this got the biggest cheer from both then
audience and the referee, sadly the throw was disallowed because rule changes
brought in by the International Judo Federation forbid throw where you grab the
leg, the referee decided not to disqualify Liam for this but just did not score
the technique but Liam still got the Gold. Some one should have told the referee
the new rules do not come to fruitarian till January 2010, the new rules have
upset the great majority of Judoka who believe they are retrograde step and
believe we should return to the Judo of twenty years ago rather then try and
make Judo a soft Political Correct Sport. Liam even got a standing ovation when
he claimed his GOLD medal with the referee saying his fight was the best of the
day and the question was where was this club who can still teach such high
powered throws of course we all know it was the Sittingbourne Judo Society.
