I recently received the flyer below. My own investigation into the matter has been to telephone Sport England who said they did not have all the information to hand and would come back to me, I have sent a copy to the BJA for their comments, Sports Coach UK told me that my fears were unfounded I am awaiting a written response ( http://www.ukcoachingcertificate.org/web/sports/). If this Leaflet is true it could have a devastating effect on all sport not just our own. I have no fear of a UKCC so long as it is available to everyone and not made a legal requirement, this particular government aided by the EU does have a habit of making the simplest of tasks into a legal requirement both want totally control of our lives without individual choice. This usually means us paying out money, my worry is that some edict from Brussels will make all sports coaches have something like a "Corgi Registration Scheme" where you pay inordinate sums of money to coach your sport, with the majority of coaches being unpaid where does the money come from? This Coaches Tax would become the death Nell of Sport.
My recent talks with the BJA were very meaningful and I believe they have some very good ideas, the BJA EC seem to be a group of people who are interested in the betterment of Judo, I am sure that they realise to see Judo grow it must not become a dictatorship as someone who heads an independent Martial Arts and Folk Style wrestling group I wish to see unity and harmony in all fields of Martial Arts and Combat Disciplines.
