'Political
Correctness Gone Wrong'
Mr. A. S. Jordan
(I.T Architect)
- It starts like this...
We all take a view that offending somebody
or some ethnic group in this day and age whether it be saying something
out of turn or an action we choose to do is highly frowned
upon, which absolutley true... to an extent...
Now, I could say to somebody out of
politeness; what's wrong with there behaviour, hair, some sort of silly defect
or maybe an action they are about to do that may effect things in a negative
way in the near future (as examples).
People generally do this, as good
friends would do, or to give a bit of guidance to somebody if they feel it's
necessary.
- And we take it like
this...
"What did you say that for ?, that's
not very nice is it !"
or
"Thanks a lot pal, I'll see you in
court"
- What the hell happened ?...
Now I'm not that old, and it doesn't
take a rocket scientist to figure out that people don't like the
truth in some respects, but they fail to see the positive side of things in
everything all of us do at some point in our lives. We are all to picky
nowadays and to get on with each other we need to agree to differ sometimes
and forget comments and actions each of us make, without taking things to
heart; whether it be direct or in-direct effect (as groups and sole
decisions as well).
I think as a whole, we gave up listening to each other years ago, and are just
hearing what people have to say... HEH, believe it or not there is
a difference between the two and it does make a BIG difference in the
long run !...
I agree on some levels, anybody would, but
in my experience over the years (Ahem) I have learned that no matter how hard
you try in anything you do, or whatever action you make, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE
TO PLEASE EVERYBODY !
I also think a lot of people use this
correctness as an excuse to carry on with the material things in life which
shouldn't really matter to much E.G: Watching TV, Playing on a PC, Locking
yourself in some room with a games console and isolating yourself from
society... Instead of talking to people, interacting and learning what
people have to offer as a person and actually agreeing with something.
I know it's easier to moan and groan and
go back to do what you normally do in life, but we have a thing in the UK,
especially at the moment with racist matters ETC and how to combat it...
And, if we're not talking to one another
and just giving some silly answer to everything without proper thought (as in
a chess game), nothing is going to get sorted ! This is another reason we
are all fighting each other.
- Conclusion ?
I could make points all day and maybe you
could eventually print off 30 pages of A4, BUT....
I think the only way forward is for us to:
a) Be polite (even if
you disagree)
b) You need
to respect peoples views; even if you don't agree ! (think about it, it makes
sense !)
c) Encourage others to
do the same and stop the small mindedness
d) Don't be
"Egotistical" about matters (that does wind people up, and no, they
probably wont listen anyway =] )
And last but certainly not least !
........
e) Whatever the hell
happened to the saying "Sticks and Stones" for crying out loud
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....... Grow up you lot !
PHEW... My fingers ache........
