MDS
(Minimum Defence System)

Over the last 20 years we have a seen a rapid rise in violent confrontation which has not been restricted to the Pub or the street. More and more we are hearing of nurses, receptionist, shopkeepers in fact anybody who comes in contact with the public being attacked and abused.
There would be two answers to the problem 1) change the attitude of society 2) Learn Self Defence, with No 1 hopefully society will revert to a more civilised attitude but this is long term, No 2 is the obvious immediate approach.
For many years when a self defence class is required you would approach your local Martial Arts Instructor, Armed Services, Police etc although all these may be good at what they do, most require a high degree of fitness and skill plus their self defence requirements are not necessarily what you require.
The MDS system has been designed especially for your needs; in approximately 6 hours we can produce people who are confident enough to be able use rudimentary self-defence techniques. MDS does not involve any striking or throwing; it insures that safety not only of the victim but also of the assailant is paramount. MDS instil teamwork and actively discourages the macho approach to self-defence, it also a great confidence builder plus looks into body language to neutralise situations. The MDS system works within the legal framework of the UK.
The 1st course was held on Sunday and this was for a few selected Martial Arts Coaches who wish to qualify in the MDS system a system which we hope to promote to Council’s, Businesses and many other groups. The course instructor was the founder of the system was Keith Jolliffe you will find attached a brief history. This courses was the first of many as we hope to build up a network of coaches to travel the country

ESSENTIAL DEFENCE
AND CONTROL
The aim of our course is to facilitate the safest possible handling of violent situations. Students will be trained to adapt their responses to the situation at hand. Our methods are flexible as all situations change and vary as they develop. Any team of defenders or restrainers will be required to change their individual and group role as any given situation plays out. All persons in the vicinity of an incident should have a common purpose, to bring it to a safe and speedy conclusion. All potential participants are taught to act within the law at all times as our system has been designed with legal implications in mind. We must always be able to justify our actions.
